Early color, lasting beauty, and a true farm favorite.
Lavandula angustifolia ‘Tucker’s Early Purple’ is a standout English lavender named in honor of renowned botanist and lavender expert Dr. Arthur Tucker—and it lives up to the legacy. This variety blooms early in the season and holds its rich color beautifully through summer, making it one of the most reliable and visually striking lavenders in the field.
The flower spikes feature vivid dark violet-blue corollas rising from violet calyces with a soft sage-green base, creating depth and contrast that catches the eye from a distance. Its mid-length, sturdy stems make it equally useful for fresh bouquets, drying, potpourri, and craft work, while the classic English lavender fragrance lends itself well to culinary use.
This cultivar has proven itself both in the garden and on the farm—a true fan favorite during our 2023 season. When visitors see it blooming in our fields, it’s one of the first plants they ask to take home. Compact yet impactful, ‘Tucker’s Early Purple’ fits beautifully into landscape plantings, herb gardens, and harvest-focused lavender collections.

I love Tuckers Early Purples because it is one of the earliest L. angustifolias, lasts a long time and is a deep purple. The plants I bought were healthy and are growing well. I don’t expect to see any blooms this year but I’m looking forward to the next year.
