Lavandula angustifolia ‘Irene Doyle’ is a highly regarded English lavender cultivar prized for its exceptionally fine fragrance and its ability to bloom heavily twice in one season. Often referred to as “Two Seasons” lavender, this variety produces a strong summer bloom followed by a reliable secondary flush in autumn under favorable conditions.
The flowers are a soft to medium light purple, carried on well-formed spikes above aromatic gray-green foliage. The fragrance is notably refined and persistent, making ‘Irene Doyle’ an excellent choice for essential oil production, potpourri, and dried uses where scent quality is paramount.
This variety forms a vigorous yet well-balanced evergreen shrub, performing reliably in full sun and well-drained soil. Its proven garden performance is one reason it remains a favorite among growers. We selected ‘Irene Doyle’ for our newly planted lavender rows in Southern Oregon in 2022, where it continues to demonstrate excellent vigor, fragrance, and rebloom potential.
For gardeners seeking an English lavender with outstanding scent and extended seasonal interest, ‘Irene Doyle’ is a dependable and rewarding choice.
