Coreopsis lanceolata, commonly known as lanceleaf coreopsis, is a clump-forming American native perennial celebrated for its abundant, bright yellow daisy-like flowers that bloom steadily through the summer months. Its cheerful color, adaptability, and long lifespan make it a reliable favorite in both naturalistic and traditional garden settings.
This herbaceous perennial forms tidy mounds of narrow, lance-shaped foliage, sending up flower stems that hover above the leaves and create a light, airy display. The blooms are not only attractive in the landscape but also make excellent cut flowers and are highly valued for their ability to attract butterflies and other pollinators.
Lanceleaf coreopsis is also historically known as a natural dye plant, producing warm shades of gold and orange. Once established, it thrives in full sun with minimal supplemental water, making it a strong choice for low-maintenance gardens, meadow plantings, and restoration projects.
